Uniqueness | Conditions | FAQs

The modern era of Chiropractic began in 1895 (the same year that X-Rays were discovered) when a Canadian named Daniel D. Palmer was living in Davenport Iowa U.S.A. and helped a man with neck and hearing problems of some 17 years' duration.

Chiropractic is a fully registered health profession throughout Australia and as such, is part of most health insurance companies' rebate systems as well as some limited access through Medicare.

The improved hearing and more painfree neck movements occurred from D.D.Palmer's adjustment of Mr.Lillard's spine. This encouraged both D.D. Palmer and his son B.J.Palmer to study, research, practice and establish this new era of spinal/nerve therapy. Chiropractic is now one of the world's largest and most recognised drug-free healing professions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the treatment hurt?
Usually not and in fact it can often be a very pleasant sensation. The care plan will be suited to the uniqueness of your particular spine and health situation.

What is that clicking sound?
When your Chiropractor performs a specific spinal adjustment tiny pockets of gas are released from the joints which makes a clicking noise.

Will my joints be worn away by treatment?
Quite the contrary, our joints need to be periodically unlocked or adjusted in order to maintain proper mobility, disc hydration and synovial fluid production. This maintains a healthier joint and there is less likelihood of future arthritis and nerve irritation.

Will I need continued care?
There are several ways to answer this question.

1. Not everyone requires the same level of care. Some health problems are simple to assist and require very little maintenance.

2. Other conditions are many years in the development even prior to symptoms appearing. The longer a problem has been present, the more Chiropractic care may be required to manage it.

3. Just as many people will choose to see a Dentist or Dental Hygienist for maintaining proper dental hygiene, there are those that choose to see a Chiropractor to maintain proper spinal hygiene.

4. When the patient follows the recommended supportive exercises developed by the Chiropractor for their condition, less visits will be required to attain maximum results.
